Employee engagement can seem elusive much of the time. How do we increase employee engagement and what exactly does it mean?
CEmployee engagement is the emotional commitment employees have to the organization and its goals. This commitment is when the employee cares about their work and the company they work for. These people tend to be more loyal, harder working, stronger performers, and more pleasant to work with.
How do we increase employee engagement? Simply be one of the employees and find out what they love about the company and what needs improvements. When you take the time to interact with your employees at their level, they will be more open and honest with you. You can increase employee engagement by seeing the company through the eyes of your employees. Take the time to see the flaws the company has and find ways to fix those flaws. This will create an environment of inclusion and acceptance that helps all employees feel they matter. When employees feel they are heard they will engage with management better and feel more fulfilled in their job.
Intentional Engagement® is an operational model that can be started and utilized at any level. Whether you are the CEO of a Fortune 500 company or the associate of a small boutique firm, this model can work. More than a change in structure, it’s a change in mindset and a change in behavior. You can start with a small team of people and expand as managers and team leaders become more comfortable with the system.
Remember that change takes time. Don’t worry if you don’t see immediate changes in sales numbers or even engagement sessions. People need to come to the idea and know you support them. Make sure you get the word out and help people understand there are changes being made to better support
them. Introduce engagement sessions and be consistent. No matter what, believe in the system. It will work if you work the system.
We all talk too much. Not only are we all talking too much, but we are listening too little. In fact, when we talk with someone, we are just expressing words between the two of you that process into the ideas we hope to share, but are we really communicating?

What does success look like? To figure this out you must first have a benchmark of where you are now. What is your current leadership model? Who’s really running the company and what changes need to be made to be more successful and open to your employees?
